Barcelona vs PSV Eindhoven are back in Champions League action on Wednesday, as the Spanish champions are in the Netherlands to face PSV Eindhoven.
Ernesto Valverde has a big injury list for this one. He’ll have to make do with Sergi Roberto, Rafinha, Arthur, Luis Suarez and Jasper Cillessen.
Barcelona will still be big favourites to win and clinch top spot in Group B. PSV have managed just one point so far and were beaten 4-0 at the Camp Nou.
The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana are in the Netherlands for a big Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven, and Barça can win Group B with a point. Ernesto Valverde has called up 21 players* for the trip, and these are them:
There are a LOT of injury problems for Valverde ahead of this one: Jasper Cillessen can’t play with a muscle issue, Luis Suárez misses out with a knee problem, Arthur has a groin problem, Sergi Roberto has a hamstring, Sergi Samper has an ankle injury, Thomas Vermaelen is Thomas Vermaelen, and Rafinha is out for the season with a torn ligament in his knee.
njuries mean the defence virtually picks itself. The only question is whether Clement Lenglet may get an outing at centre-back.
A fit-again Samuel Umtitit returned alongside Gerard Pique against Atletico Madrid, he’ll be expected to continue unless there are any fitness concerns.
Ivan Rakitic is available again after suspension, although there are concerns about his fitness. He suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Croatia and returned to Barcelona early.
If he does miss out that may mean a rare opportunity for Denis Suarez or Carles Alena to start.
Elsewhere, Sergio Busquets will make his 501st appearance for Barcelona, while Arturo Vidal should keep his place in the starting XI.
And this is where it gets really interesting with Luis Suarez ruled out, and Philippe Coutinho also a doubt due to a hamstring injury.
Lionel Messi looks set to captain the side but Munir, Ousmane Dembele and Malcom will all be hoping for a start against PSV.
Possible starting XI: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Umtiti, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Vidal: Dembele, Messi, Coutinho.
